Dog, Cat Training and Behavior Specialist
Ally joins Beyond the Dog with a Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. While pursuing her undergraduate degree, she worked extensively in a research setting studying the adoptability of dogs at local humane associations and working on improving obedience skills to increase the potential for adoption. With her degree, Ally has extensive knowledge in the principles of behavior and loves applying those principles to canines and other species.
Currently, Ally is a doctoral student at the University of Kansas, working toward her Ph.D. in Behavioral Psychology. She is interested in studying reinforcer preference and how those preferences play into animal training. Ally is actively involved in conducting research related to basic behavioral processes with dogs and has presented findings at national conferences throughout the United States.
As a full-time student, Ally spends her downtime exploring new research ideas and finding ways to get the most out of her graduate school experience. She currently lives in Lawrence, where she finds solace in wandering Clinton Lake and stays active through yoga.
