Ring in the New Year with your dog and some fresh air! HTX Outdoors is offering a group hiking event for anyone interested in the Greater Houston area.
New Year’s Day Hike
Where: Lake Houston Wilderness Park – 25840 FM 1485, New Caney, Texas, 77357
When: January 1st, 2023, from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
The 6-mile hike will consist of dirt trails, sand, and some hills. They are considering this hike friendly for all levels of hikers; however, you should expect to be able to maintain a pace of 30 minutes a mile. The hosts will divide into two groups dependent on pace expectations, and they will not leave anyone behind, so you do not need to worry about getting lost or taking a break if needed. All dogs are welcome to join in the fun as long as your dog is friendly with people and other dogs. HTXO is an adult outdoor social club. They ask everyone to please leave any children at home for this event. The hike is free; however, the park entry is $3.00 per person. The hosts recommend you give yourself at least 15 minutes on your commute to the park entrance to allow time to pay, find parking, and meet the group. The group will meet in the parking lot in front of the nature center, a 10-minute drive from the front entrance.
