Our Houston dog training programs involve not only training your dog (or cat) but involves working directly with you. This ensures you can effectively maintain your pet’s behavior long-term and allows you to more clearly communicate with your dog, further deepening the bond you share. Whether we are working on basic puppy training or more serious problem behavior in an adult dog, working one-on-one with your dog and then teaching you is a critical part of our process. Allow us to take the lead on helping you achieve your dog training goals! Our private, in-home training programs allow us to customize your training program based on your individual needs. We travel to your Houston home to incorporate your life and your dog’s daily experience into each training program. Our programs address your concerns about your dog’s behavior or directly target your puppy training goals in the environment where it occurs. We create the most realistic training environment using real-life training scenarios in your home, neighborhood, or local greater Houston area!

Who We Are

As a Houston-based professional dog training company, we rely on the science of behavior to train dogs and cats as well as their respective owners using ethical practices.

Our team of Houston dog trainers is passionate about dogs and behavior change. Guided by Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist, Dr. Kristyn Savage and Certified Dog Behavior Consultant, Sean Savage, each of our trainers has earned a bachelor’s degree, dog training credentials, and are mentored. This ensures we continue to meet the standards of Beyond the Dog right here in Houston.
Each member of our team has access to the knowledge and unique background of our entire team. Collectively, that’s over 50 years of experience and is currently over 500 hours a week of new dog training cases to rely on! We apply psychology, zoology, behavioral science, and doctoral level research to design each and every training program. All of this adds up to shape Beyond the Dog in a unique way and is the Beyond the Dog difference!
