Are black cats actually less likely to be adopted?
Unfortunately, some people are superstitious of black cats. There’s a history of black cats being seen as bad luck. Even being associated with witchcraft and evil that goes back hundreds of years.
Now, we know that black cats are just as adorable as other cats and that these superstitions should be a relic of the past. But this association is still believed by some people. These perceptions are so serious, that some cat shelters even choose not to adopt out black cats in October for the cats’ safety.
There is also a perception that it’s harder to read the emotions of black cats and that they are more aggressive.
