Beyond the Dog's Obedience Dog Training

Training Philosophy

Advanced Obedience Training that Supports Long-Term Behavioral Wellness

Obedience Training and How We Teach These Skills

Our Obedience Training Program teaches your dog to reliably respond to commands, including “place”, “recall”, “sit”, “down”, “stay”, and “wait”, leash walking, and socialization skills through exposure to other dogs and people across many different environments.

Our training programs are personalized to meet your dog’s unique needs, utilizing proven scientific training methods including classical conditioning, which helps your dog form positive associations with new experiences, and operant conditioning, which reinforces desired behaviors consistently through rewards to teach high-level obedience, good manners, and support their overall behavioral wellness. We do not use strong aversive stimuli such as shock collars, as they can cause more significant problem behaviors. We specialize solely in private dog training, so that your dog will have the trainer’s full attention across every session. Our training is designed to be rewarding and to foster a lifelong love of learning so they can be confident to go out on adventures with you.

Benefits of Obedience Training

It’s always more fun when you can include your dog in more of your everyday adventures! From grabbing a coffee together to going out for Sunday brunch. After completing our Obedience Training Program, your dog will be more confident, will reliably listen to commands, and will demonstrate good manners both at home and when out in public.

Our team, led by Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist Dr. Kristyn Echterling-Savage and Certified Dog Behavior Consultant Sean Savage, uses the latest research in dog behavior and over 50 years of combined training experience to reinforce positive behaviors that supports your dog’s overall behavioral wellness. You will receive detailed instructions and follow-up lessons to ensure these behaviors carry over into everyday life, helping your dog become a confident, well-mannered companion.
