Training Programs
Our goal is to modify your cat’s aggressive behavior and eliminate all cat conflicts. During our personalized, in-home training programs we will:
At the core of our cat behavior modification training programs lies a robust foundation of scientific research. After 20+ years of experience treating hundreds of cats exhibiting aggressive behavior, our team has created a proprietary treatment plan that we can customize to any cat’s behavior. After completing the Indirect Assessment of Feline Behavior, our pre-training team will come up with a training plan based on classical conditioning to modify your cat’s behavior. Our treatment is supported by the latest research in animal behavior such as the seminal study conducted by Mills et al. (2004) in which 8000 cases of cat aggression were analyzed. Through our scientific approach, we empower cat owners with the knowledge and tools necessary to modify their cats’ behavior. According to our Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist, Dr. Echterling-Savage, “By reducing and eliminating aggression in cats we create harmony in your home. Creating a stress-free environment for everyone is at the heart of what we do at Beyond the Dog.”
The Executive Training Program offers comprehensive on-location training sessions tailored to your cat’s specific needs. Over the course of three to four weeks, you’ll receive 1-hour sessions, three days a week. Upon submitting your training contract and completing the Indirect Assessment of Feline Behavior, our pre-training team, under the guidance of Dr. Echterling-Savage, meticulously designs a personalized training program for your cat. Your designated trainer will then conduct two one-on-one sessions with your cat each week, focusing on targeted behavioral modifications. The third session, dedicated to developing your cat training skills, ensures a holistic approach to pet training and integration. Please be advised that additional fees may apply if the indirect behavior assessment indicates severe behavior issues in your cat, as confirmed by our expert team.
If you are a pet parent with an insurance policy covering behavior modification, our cat aggression behavior modification is likely covered. Most companies with behavior policies such as Trupanion cover behavioral training when under the direction of a CAAB or a Board Certified Veterinary Behaviorist.
Are you concerned about your cat’s aggressive behavior towards other cats or people? Our virtual consultations offer a convenient and effective solution under the guidance of our resident Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist. Depending on the severity of your cat’s behavior, as determined by the Indirect Assessment of Feline Behavior, we may recommend one or multiple sessions with Dr. Echterling-Savage or one of our other behavior consultants under her direct supervision. Virtual consultations with Dr. Echterling-Savage are priced at $375 for an hour, while sessions with one of our Houston trainers, under her supervision, are available for $150 per hour.
