Training Philosophy
Is your dog driving your Austin neighbors crazy with nonstop barking when you leave your home? Are you constantly worrying about your dog’s behavior when you are not there with them? Our in-home dog training programs for Austin dogs experiencing separation anxiety are here to help! One of our Austin behavior consultants will come right to your Austin home to treat your dog’s separation anxiety. We want both you and your dog to be comfortable and relaxed whenever you leave the house and our Austin dog training programs will achieve exactly that!
Separation anxiety can be extremely stressful for both you and your dog. Our science-based dog training programs are designed to treat all types of separation anxiety in dogs. Our team of Austin behavior consultants is led by one of approximately 50 Certified Applied Animal Behaviorists in the country, Dr. Echterling-Savage. We only utilize the latest research in dog behavior in our Austin dog training programs. Your Austin dog trainer will use a combination of classical conditioning and positive reinforcement to create a more positive association with you being away from your pup. This is a functional approach that we created after treating many severe cases of separation anxiety. Treating your dog’s separation anxiety is a lifelong investment that can significantly increase both you and your dog’s quality of life.
Training Programs
We will address the following anxious behavior including but limited to:
Our Austin behavior consultants reduce and eliminate separation anxiety with a proprietary multicomponent treatment, including classical counterconditioning. Your trainer will help your dog create a more positive association with being left alone. After consistent treatment, dogs learn to be comfortable and confident when left alone and will stop the endless barking. According to a 2022 study by Zurlinden et al., counterconditioning is an effective treatment method for dogs suffering from separation anxiety. Our Co-Founder Sean Savage stated, “Both owners and dogs experience a diminished quality of life when a dog is experiencing separation anxiety. Our unique training protocols cause stress to fade and peace to return to the household.”
The All-Inclusive Dog Separation Anxiety Training Program is specifically designed for Austin dogs to reduce or eliminate separation anxiety. It encompasses 22 hours of private training! Our pre-training team will personalize your dog’s training program based on the Indirect Assessment of Canine Behavior that you will complete about your dog’s history, behavior, and training goals. After creating your dog’s training plan, your trainer will work with your dog Tuesday through Thursday in a combination of one-on-one sessions and a weekly lesson with you. At the end of each week and the training program, your trainer will give you detailed instructions on how to maintain your dog’s level of training post-program. Please note that our indirect behavior assessments will confirm your dog’s behavior and goals. If your dog’s training program requires additional oversight from our Animal Behavior Experts, a small additional fee may be required.
If you are a pet parent with an insurance policy covering behavior modification, our separation anxiety dog behavior modification is likely covered. When behavior training is under the direction of a CAAB or a Board Certified Veterinary Behaviorist, most companies with behavior policies such as Trupanion will cover behavioral training.
