Who’s excited to see the ring of fire around the moon this Saturday?! I know we are! This Saturday, October 14th, 2023, you will be able to see 85% coverage of the solar eclipse in Houston! The solar eclipse is when the moon obscures the sun by passing between the sun and the earth.
The peak sighting of the eclipse will be at 11:58 am with partial viewing from 10:23 am – 1:33 pm. It’s supposed to be a beautiful day in the 70’s this Saturday and we want your pups to be able to join in on the quality weekend time outdoors.
Remember, if you’d like to view the eclipse, you must wear protective solar viewing glasses for optimal viewing.

This family-friendly event features scientists and educators from the Lunar and Planetary Institute for a fun and educational viewing party. Enjoy live music and a lunar craft for the kids! Levy Park will provide viewing glasses so be sure to get there on time to snag a pair.
Texas Family Literacy Festival at Discovery Green
Story Square, 1500 McKinney Street Houston, TX 77010 – 10:30am – 6:30pm
Free for anyone who registers, Discovery Green is hosting a literacy festival sure to dazzle children of all ages. There will be delicious food, giveaways, vendor booths, performances, and celebrations of reading. Enjoy the wonders of the eclipse coupled with the wonders of imagination.
