With lively social settings, exciting events, and a variety of food options, breweries can be a great place to take your dog. Kansas City is one of our favorite towns with dog-friendly spaces, and their breweries are no exception. Enjoy Kansas City’s famous brews, such as BKS’s award-winning “Chur Enough” Pale Ale and Brew Lab’s “Across the Pond Dry Stout” Irish Dry, all while enjoying the day out with your dog. After enjoying a cold beverage, complete your day’s adventures by taking your dog to one of Kansas City’s Hiking Trails and Dog Parks. Below we’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite dog-friendly breweries in Kansas City. 

Alma Mader Brewing

Alma Mader Brewing specializes in award-winning, hop-forward ales and lagers. They are open Wednesday through Sunday. While they do not serve food, you are welcome to bring your own, and they have a dog-friendly patio.

The brewery is located near Penn Valley Park, a large area perfect for exploring trails with your dog. Please remember that dogs must be leashed on the trails. Within Penn Valley Park, you will find the Penn Valley Off-Leash Dog Park, which features two separately fenced areas. With a 1.8-acre area for small breeds and elderly dogs and a 2.7-acre area for large-breed dogs. 

BKS Artisan Ales

BKS Artisan Ales has received numerous awards and recognitions for their ales. The acronym BKS stands for Brookside, the Kansas City neighborhood where they are located. They have a production facility and a tasting room that is open seven days a week. BKS is dog-friendly and allows dogs on the patio. While they do not serve food, you are welcome to bring your own, and Plate Restaurant offers delivery to BKS.

BKS is near Swope Park, Kansas City’s largest park. This park offers strolls and hiking trails through the woodlands and grassy areas; dogs must be on leash. Swope Park is also home to Swope Dog Park. This park has separately fenced areas with a four-acre area for large breed dogs and one acre dedicated to small breed dogs. Water fountains are available within both fenced sections.

Brew Lab

Brew Lab in Overland Park features a taproom and sports bar, with live music and entertainment every Friday. Brew Lab serves food and is open seven days a week. They have a dog-friendly patio with ceiling fans and a propane fire pit for inclement weather. 

If you are looking to burn off your dog’s energy before going to the Brew Lab, the Thomas S Stroll Dog Park is nine miles south west and allows your dog to socialize in either the seven acre large dog fenced area or the one third acre area for small dogs. You can also visit the closer Meadowbrook Park which has an outer loop trail if you are looking for a leisurely stroll. 

Strange Days Brewing

Strange Days Brewing is well-known for its ever-changing taproom selection and lively atmosphere. It’s a popular place for soccer fans and event-goers alike, with regular trivia nights, and soccer match screenings. Strange Days Brewing does not have a restaurant, but various food trucks are available during events. Open every day of the week except Tuesdays, they are dog-friendly, with dogs welcome in both the taproom and the patio.

If you’re looking to stretch your legs before or after a visit, the nearby Missouri Riverfront Heritage Trail offers a scenic, three-mile walk along the Missouri River, perfect for a stroll with your dog. 

Brewery Emperial

The Brewery Emperial has a full-service restaurant and a beer garden, offering both outdoor and indoor seating options. The Brewery Emperial is dog-friendly, allowing dogs in their beer garden. The menu offers a varied selection of food and drinks. This includes the “Emperial Burger,” along with cocktails and their own craft ales and lagers. In addition to seasonal items, such as fish and chips and Bavarian pretzels.

Conveniently located in Downtown Kansas City, it’s an easy stop after a stroll through nearby Penn Valley Park or a visit to the Penn Valley Dog Park.
